When John D’Amico retired from his position as State Representative of the 15th Legislative District of Illinois, 39th Ward Neighbors United sprung into action. The appointment process is inherently undemocratic, but we believe that constituents must have a say in any process to select a government official that will be representing them.

To that end, we developed a candidate questionnaire and collaborated with other local community groups to host a public candidate forum. A personal invitation was sent to each applicant, requesting that they complete the questionnaire and attend the forum.
